The trek follow the ridge with intricately terraced mustered fields, groves of citrus, bananas, rhododendron and oak forest. There are small villages along the trail; these villages have remarkable ethnic diversity akin to Nepal. Most of the villages are inhabited by Brahmin, Chettri, Gurung and Magar. Gurung and Magar are famous for their combat skill shown in both world wars. This trek is popularly known as Royal Trek because Prince Charles did his first trek in Nepal in this area.
The trek starts from Kalikathan 1400 m near Pokhara. You walk through Shyaklung (1760 m) village and Chisopani danda (ridge).
This trek ends at Begnas-tal (lake), about 10km from Pokhara. You pass through small villages that have remarkable ethnic diversity of Nepal. Highest elevation gain on the trek is 1830 meter. An overnight stay in Pokhara is necessary either in the beginning or at the end of the trek. The best part of the trek is there are no tea houses and it is away from the crowded trail. This trek starts and ends in Pokhara. The Royal trek, easiest and short trek with a lot of natural beauties for those who have short period of time and want to be enjoyed viewing Annapurna Himalaya Ranges, offers you splendid mountain views of Annapurna south, Himchuli, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu, Fish tail & Annapurna II III IV.So one more extra day can be spent for photograph. This trekking is recommended as the winter trip and the trip for family or with children since the trip is not going that high altitude. Trekking through the villages set among the cultivated fields and meeting the people is quite unforgettable experience. This four days trek commences from Pokhara, the valley of lakes offering panoramic views of the Annapurna massif as also of the Manasulu Himal. This route was first trekked by Charles the Prince of Wales in 1980 and hence is known as the Royal Trek. This is the best trek for those who want to experience village life and striking mountain views in a relatively short period of time.
