The flight to Chitwan from Kathmandu takes around 30 minutes (or a 5 hour drive in a private car). Alternatively you may be traveling from Pokhara and it would be a 4 to 5 hour drive in a private car. On arrival you transfer from the plane or car to a Jeep/Land Rover to drive through the forest to your accommodation. After lunch you will probably enjoy an elephant safari or a jungle walk. Your accommodation will be in comfortable twin rooms or safari style tents, each with attached bathrooms.
Chitwan is one of the best wildlife areas in Asia and its fauna includes more than 50 species of mammals and over 450 species of birds. Deer, wild boar, monkey, rhino and crocodile are commonly seen and, if you are lucky you may even see tiger, leopard or bear. Apart from jungle tours by elephant, the lodge you live offer a variety of other activities such as safaris by Land Rover, canoe rides, bird watching and nature walks. The resident naturalists are happy to share their knowledge of the jungle with you. You will also visit the nearby elephant camp (stables) and a naturalist will give a talk on their habits, training and maintenance.
In the morning, perhaps an elephant safari, nature walk or jungle drive. Return to the lodge for breakfast. Mid-morning, you will begin your onward journey with a flight to Kathmandu or drive to Pokhara. Or you can also extend your stay over here as well.
