This Mt. Kailash is regarded in many sects of Hinduism as paradise, the ultimate destination of souls and the spiritual center of the world. Some traditions also believe that the mountain is Shiva's linga and Lake Manosarovar below is the yoni of His consort. According to one description in the Vishnu Purana , Mount Kailash is the centre world, its four faces are made of crystal , ruby, gold, and lapis lazuli. It is the pillar of the world; is 84,000 leagues high; is the center of the world mandala , and is located at the heart of six mountain ranges symbolizing a lotus. The four rivers flowing from Kailash then flow to the four quarters of the world and divide the world into four regions. The largest and most important rock-cut temple, Kailash Temple at Ellora ,Maharashtra is named after Mount Kailash. Many of its sculptures and reliefs depict episodes relating to Shiva and Parvati, including the demon Ravana’s attempt to dislodge them by shaking Mount Kailash is the holly place for pilgrims and different and extra ordinary for non-pilgrims. Join us for this in-depth exploration of Tibet. Our trip will start from Kathmandu by flying to Lhasa and continue on to Shigatse and Gyantse, with sacred Mt. Kailas as our goal. In addition to the kora (pilgrimage) around Mt. Kailas, the trip includes a visit to the ancient kingdom of Guge and time to sightsee in Kathmandu. The trekking is short (four days of hiking) but on rugged trails at high elevation (4500-5500m).

This trip is appropriate for experienced hikers who have been to high altitude before and are prepared to "rough it." Conditions in Tibet are variable. Travel in Tibet is an adventure, different and totally new which is know as the land of isolation and the fact that tourism is relatively new experiment here that makes more exciting travel. With flexibility and an open mind, you will enjoy the challenge. The pilgrimage to Kailash is the experience of a lifetime leadership. Mt. Kailash, 6,740 m high peak is situated to the north of the Himalayan barrier, wholly within Tibet. It is the perfect mountain with awesome beauty, with 4 great faces. It is the spiritual centre for four great religions: Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, the Jain religion and the pre-Buddhist animistic religion - Bonpo. For the Hindus Mount Kailash is the earthly manifestation of Mt. Meru, their spiritual centre of the universe, described as a fantastic 'world pillar' 84,000 miles high, around which all else revolves, its roots in the lowest hell and its summit kissing the heavens. On the top live their most revered God, Shiva, and his consort Parvati. For the Jains, an Indian religious group, Kailash is the site where their first prophet achieved enlightenment. For the older, more ancient religion of Bon, it is the site where its founder Shanrab is said to have descended from heaven.
